Yes, those clichéd phrases like “I can’t wait until such and such happens…” curiously don’t make the hourglass sands go any faster!

Exactly-one can’t make it do anything-it always moves along the same way. But also I guess trying to race time by doing too much is in a way trying to bend it to our will which has its own consequences.
