This is part of what diversity’s about, isn’t it: average, by definition, is somewhere in the middle of a range of different points. ‘The norm’ is often just a stick to beat those of us who don’t want to wear the demeaning uniform we’re told to. (By the way, autocorrect changed what should be ‘thou’.)
